This is the last home of Columbus resident Gertrude "Ma" Rainey. Known as the "Mother of the Blues", Ma Rainey was instrumental in the development of modern Blues. The Friends of Ma Rainey are in the process of renovating this residence into a Museum to recognize the contributions "Ma" Rainey made to the world of American Blues music.
